Warriors fight South East leaders Magic

Patrick Ewing in his second year coaching Dwight Howard with the Magic. Even though the Warriors hold Magic below 50 at the half, the Magic start to pull away in the third quarter , getting their first double digit lead. Warriors have got to play more defense.

Warriors slip against Rockets & Denver

Warriors show little fight against playoff caliber teams. These teams can easily post 20 point leads by the third quarter. Don Nelson needs to coach some tough defense. Maybe some good old fashioned wind sprints could light a fire.

Warriors keep Bucks below 100 points

Warriors stop losing streak against worst team in basketball

Golden State squeaked by the worst team in basketball avoiding their first double-digit losing streak since March 2002 by beating Oklahoma City Thunder 112-102 at the Ford Center. Golden State played without swingmen Stephan Jackson (sprained left hand) and Corey Maggette (strained right hamstring), and rookie forward Anthony Randolph (sprained left hand).

In the fourth quarter, they missed five layups, turned the ball over seven times and allowed Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant to get hot (he scored 19 of his 41 in the final period).

Yao Ming season high against skinny Warrior team

The Warriors lost the opener of their trek in Houston on Friday when Yao Ming scored a season-high 33 points to go with 14 rebounds and five assists, as the Rockets used a 43-point fourth quarter to pull away from Golden State, 131-112.

It was the third straight time the defensively-challenged Warriors have given up 130 or more points in a game.

Spurs handle Warriors for the last decade

The Warriors haven't tasted victory in San Antonio since a 108-94 triumph on February 14, 1997 - a year prior to Tim Duncan's arrival in San Antonio. And now the defensive troubled Warriors are having a tough time all around.

Despite rumors Nelson's not quiting yet on the Warriors

The dismal Warriors have made it through another November with the usual woes. Now Nellie is being critizized for his lack of coaching. Why doesn't Nellie teach his squad how to box out and rebound (we ask)? nevertheless Nelson claims he will fullfill his 3 year deal for 12 million. I wonder how he'll be recruiting. It must be hard to do anything with the franchise player (Monta Ellis) on the sidelines at 23 years of age.

Kings spank Warriors

Just Pathetic, the Warriors have not seen a championship since the year I was born and now the Warriors are handed a 2 & 5 record. UGH! The night was not good. Veteran Jackson put up a dismal 6 points (lowering his 22 points avg.) The Warriors are now competing for last place with the Clippers. It's no secrete the Warriors franchise is in turmoil with Al Harrington wanting out of Golden State as soon as possible. Both Al and Corey Magette (9 yrs out of Duke) are on the injured list, so scoring had to be tough tonight. On the bright side, Andris Biedrins posted a double double, and 6-9,Rob Kurz (out of Notre Dame) made his NBA debut. Way to go rookie!

Warriors rookie Kelenna Azubuike

The Warriors are 2 and 4 in the second week of November. And w-out Monta Ellis, after he signed a multi-million dollar deal, the Warriors seem to be in turmoil, both off the court and on. There is not a lot of love in Oakland. Tonight they play the Kings who have Kevin Martin (the wimpiest bad ass in the NBA) averaging 23.7 points last season, can he rip 25 on the Golden State Warriors tonight? What is the match up? The Warriors have 7 guards to choose from and my pick would be Kelenna Azubuike who had great years in Kentucky as a shooting guard. He was born in London England, then played high school ball in Oklahoma where he won many hoop honors. If he can play some defense, the Warriors may have a chance to shut down the Kings tonight in Arco Arena.

Warriors coach Nelson

The Warriors are coming off their best season in 14 years. They are running with 5 rookies, 3 second year players, two players out of Duke (Corey Magette & Demarcus Nelson), one player out of Kentucky Kelenna Azubuike, and their veteran players Steven Jackson a 10 year veteran, and Al Harrington out of St. Patricks high in NJ (among others). They lost their first game to the Hornets, but if they can beat the Celtics who won last year, or rather crushed the LA Lakers, then they will be a competitor. They will need to play defense now more than ever, since they lost Baron Davis and Monta Ellis who is out on a injury. They will need to hold teams to below 100 points per game.

Random thoughts on Cuba

Cuba has a fascinating history. Ever since Conquistador Diego founded Havana on August 25, 1515 Cuba has spiraled onto the world stage. The Spaniards would soon conquer all of Cuba and have their way with the natives. They would rule for nearly 400 years. Cuban Spaniards would trade with Europe and grow rich. During the 1800s southern states in the US thought of joining forces with the pro-slave Cuba. Then, Cuba was liberated from the Spanish in the late 1800s by the USA. Roosevelt had just taken office in 1902. As always, exported sugar, coffee, and tobacco were great for the Cuban economy. Cuba is the 17 th largest island in the world. They are a mineral resource. Cobalt is huge. And there are many exploitations for oil. Both Mexico and Canada started to trade with Cuba, despite USA shaking their head. Many countries would not engage with Cuba, so Russia had to support all of Cuba's needs. Russia would have to buy all of Cuba's sugar even though Russia was growing enough domestic sugar beets. Apparently Russia saw some value in Cuba. In exchange, Cuban soldiers would fight Russian interests in South Africa. Even Cuban citizens started build enthusiasm for freeing South Africa of the US & China influence. Amazing how quickly the young Cuban nation adopted a foreign countries dreams. At one point, the whole of Angola's health system was run by Cuban Doctors. Throughout the '70 & '80 the Cubans would send troops to many parts of Africa. Cubans occupied much of Africa throughout the 1900s. Raul Castro has just recently taken over for his brother Fidel Castro who is in declining health. The Cuban Population is now allowed to purchase things like computers and micro-waves. I know this is random, but interesting.
